The river to yourselves

Our famous River Drift Experience, just for your group. Walk up the Mossman River through the rainforest, towing your lightweight river sled along the sandy riverbed, with time for a swim in the clear water while your guide shares the story of the river. Then float back down on your sleds, gliding through calm, shady pools and steering through faster runs.

About 2 hours on the river (about 3.5 hours return from Port Douglas, or about 6 hours from Cairns). We’ll confirm your pick-up time when you book. Combine it with a day up to Cape Tribulation, or enjoy it as an easy half-day adventure.

The group price covers up to 10 guests; additional guests are added per person.

Who is this for?

Most ages and swimming abilities when the river is low (most of the year); when it’s higher, the faster water suits strong swimmers only. Private tours give us more flexibility, so tell us about your group when you book and we’ll advise. Not suitable during pregnancy, with limited mobility or recent injuries, or over 120kg/264lb.

What to bring

• Swimwear to wear under your wetsuit, or swim shorts if you’d prefer a thermal top
• A towel
• Contact lenses if you need them. Glasses aren’t recommended; if you must wear them, they can be worn for most of the tour
• A waterproof camera if you like (at your own risk; free tour photos are included)
• Any personal medication

Cancellation policy

• More than 7 days before departure: no charge
• 7 days to 48 hours before departure: 50% charge
• Less than 48 hours before departure, or no-show: no refund
• Date changes are free with more than 7 days' notice (by email or phone, subject to availability); within 7 days they're at our discretion and may be treated as a cancellation
• If we cancel for safety reasons, we refund in full
